The Achensee with your dog.
The Achensee is popular with dog owners: turquoise water, flat promenades and paths into the Karwendel. We work on the lake promenade in Pertisau and see every day what dogs and owners need here. These are our tips.

In short
Dogs are welcome in many places on the Achensee. In villages, on paths and in the Karwendel a lead is required depending on the area, and on the boat and in gondolas a lead and muzzle are usually required. There is a designated dog swimming area in Maurach. And on the lake promenade in Pertisau your dog can get an ice cream of its own at Der Süße Stopp.
Walks and hikes
Pertisau lake promenade
Flat, with views of the lake, meadows and benches. Ideal for a gentle walk, also with older dogs.
Into the Karwendel
From Pertisau, paths lead into valleys such as the Gerntal and Falzthurntal. Keep your dog on a lead where signs require it, and always near grazing cattle.
Go early or late
On hot days mornings and evenings are more pleasant for dogs. Take water with you.
Mind wildlife and cattle
Cows, wildlife and ground-nesting birds live in the mountains. A lead protects everyone, including your dog.

Many dogs get their cup right on the grass next to the deckchairs. The water station is right beside it, so nobody leaves thirsty.
